Time to Inspect Facilities and Sports Equipment?
This is based on a great article from Bison Inc. and we wanted to share it with you.
Equipment wears out over time and needs to be repaired or replaced to ensure safety of everyone who uses it. Many times, the only way to find out if equipment needs to be replaced is through inspection or observation during game play.
If you’re doing maintenance planning, be sure to do facility inspections and look for safety improvements.
Bison Inc. recommends doing the following:
- When doing inspections, keep a log. You’ll want to look for things such as frayed cables, loose fixtures, rough or sharp edges, excessive wear and tear just to name a few.
- Check safety padding on the walls and equipment to make sure it is in good condition. Safety padding is used on the walls, sports equipment, scorers tables and bleachers to protect players from injuries.
- How old is your equipment? Even though it may be “built to last”, play can be intense and increase the stress on your equipment. Observe the equipment in use along with a visual inspection.
- Installation instructions may have tips and maintenance schedules along with contact information should you need to contact the manufacturer. Be sure to keep a copy of this information on file.
Be sure to read the rest of the article. You’ll find other useful tips and information.
