New Playground for South Boston Speedway

Celebrating 60 Years!

The South Boston Speedway celebrates its 60th birthday this season.  With a fresh coat of asphalt, new grandstands, improved sound system, and new scoreboard, the Speedway remains among the best of the best in weekly racing.

Updating the playground area (which had just two swings) was the culmination of all these improvements.

As you can see, the colorful playground structure was done to match the colors at the speedway and provide a variety of play options to satisfy all kids!

• Deep rung arch climber
• Tri-rung horizontal ladder and rung ladder

In addition, we added an engineered wood fiber (EWF) mulch surfacing to the playground. It is similar in appearance to landscaping mulch, but it is specifically designed for use as a playground safety surface, providing excellent fall protection.
